Emerald Lake

Free Gold was first discovered in weathered iron formation on the shores of Emerald Lake in 1897. In 1915 to 1919 the Golden Rose mining company carried out considerable trenching on the property, excavated a 100-foot-long adit with a 150-foot-deep shaft. A small amalgamation mill was built and undisclosed amounts of gold recovered.

In 1935-41 the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada Ltd. carried out extensive surface and underground exploration and development. The shaft was deepened to 749 feet, and an inclined winze was sunk from the 749 elevation for a length of 577 feet. A total of 15,795 feet of lateral development was excavated on seven levels and five sublevels. A 100-ton-per-day mill operated between 1937 and 1941.

In 1987 Noramco Mining Corp. constructed a 400-ton-per-day mill on the property and carried on mine production from August, 1987, to September, 1988, until falling gold prices forced the suspension of activity [READ MORE]

Silver Valley

The Coeur d'Alene Mining District is one of the most prominent and productive mining districts in North America. This 5-mile stretch of ground has hosted over 90 historic mines yielding over five billion dollars' worth of metal (and a billion ounces of silver) in a little over 100 years. At least three of these mines have produced over one hundred million ounces of silver each over that period and so the area has come to be known as "The Silver Valley".

Within the Coeur d’Alene Mining district, the largest historical silver producing mines include the Crescent, Sunshine, Silver Summit, Coeur, Galena, and Lucky Friday. SNS currently holds a large portfolio of exploration and development properties including the Crescent Mine. Crescent Mine is strategically located between two world-class ore bodies. Adjoining the Crescent Mine on the east side is the world famous Sunshine Mine, one of the richest silver mines in the world. The Sunshine Mine is reported to have produced over 325 million ounces of silver, 71,000 tons of lead, 50,000 tons of copper and 37,500 tons of antimony .
